Problems of Pulau Semakau
1. Incineration- releases waste gases and still leaves problem of air pollution and land pollution.
2. financial issues- S$630 million to prepare landfill
3. environment issues- sacrificing of mature mangrove and coral reef
4. Lifespan issues- expected to last till 2045
5. One incinerater has to be built every 5-7 years

After much research, our group has discovered that there are much more pros than cons in the implentation of the Pulau Semakau as a waste landfill. Furthermore, valiant effort by the government since almost 60% of the waste in Singapore is recycled and only 3% of our waste produced is deposited in Pulau Semakau.
However, Pulau Semakau will only last till 2045 and that a considerable amount of waste is incinerated such that one incinerator has to be built every 5-7 years.
